- Maralene Zwarich
Maralene was a multi-sport athlete throughout high school playing basketball, volleyball, soccer, and running track. She went on to play Division I basketball and volleyball at Northeastern University. Graduating in 2007 she holds both a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Education. Since age 5 she has always participated in team sports, she has thrived in that community environment.
After college she stretched her skills even farther and took her basketball talents overseas to play professionally in 5 different countries. After she hung up her basketball shoes (at least at least professionally) in 2010, she found herself feeling lost without a team/community to be a part of and she went searching. Living at the time in Dallas she found a gym and began doing CrossFit workouts without even knowing it and got hooked. The first thing she did when she moved to Boston was search out a box to become a part of and the rest is history.
Although she had a very successful career, she cannot imagine what she would have been if she had found CrossFit earlier. “I have gained so much strength and mental toughness that I did not have before. I have found in CrossFit a great community that pushes me beyond my limits day in and day out, harder than I have ever been pushed before, both mentally and physically. I hope to share that with each and everyone I coach. I take great joy in pushing someone beyond what they thought they were capable, and watching the triumph on their face when they realize it too.”
