Getting Down to Get Up

April 20, 2010
By

Wednesday is another strength only day.  This week we’re going to be working on the jerk.  Like with the other Olympic lifts, when performing the jerk the goal is to have a weightless moment, in which you put upward momentum on the barbell, while simultaneously dropping under it, and catching it with arms locked out.  Whether using the push or split jerk, the drop under the bar is what allows us to move more weight than with a push press.  The faster and lower you can drop, the more weight you’ll be able to move.CFF_040710-2259

Skill: 2 rounds:
10 Overhead squats
10 Ring Dips
10 Sit-ups
10 Pull-ups

Strength: Jerk 5-5-3-3-1-1-1

The Saint Clair’s are hosting a breakfast this Sunday, April 25th.  Please go here to RSVP.

No parking Wednesday evening at CrossFit Fenway, due to the Sox home game.  Hopefully they’ll be out of their current losing streak by then, but if not, it’s going to be up to young Clay Buchholz to break them out of it.

Yes, thankfully the losing streak is over. My post above was incorrect, Beckett is starting tonight, so there won’t be any extra pressure on Buchholz, unless of course he allows a base runner.
