Wednesday is another strength only day. This week we’re going to be working on the jerk. Like with the other Olympic lifts, when performing the jerk the goal is to have a weightless moment, in which you put upward momentum on the barbell, while simultaneously dropping under it, and catching it with arms locked out. Whether using the push or split jerk, the drop under the bar is what allows us to move more weight than with a push press. The faster and lower you can drop, the more weight you’ll be able to move.
